EyeROV, an Indian marine robotics startup, has raised ₹13 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by AWE Funds and Unicorn India Ventures.

The fresh capital will be used to strengthen EyeROV’s technology stack, develop new underwater robotic products, and expand operations across India and international markets.

Scaling at a Critical Inflection Point

The funding comes at a pivotal moment for EyeROV, following a ₹47 crore order from the Indian Navy and a sharp rise in demand for specialised underwater inspection solutions across energy, infrastructure, and defence sectors.

“With our recent Indian Navy order and the surge in demand for advanced inspection solutions, EyeROV has reached a clear inflection point,” said Johns T. Mathai, Co-Founder and CEO of EyeROV.

He added that the current round will accelerate technology scaling and global expansion, while acting as a strategic precursor to the company’s planned $10 million Series A, which has already attracted early interest from Indian and global investors.

Investor Confidence in Deeptech and Underwater Robotics

Anil Joshi, Managing Partner at Unicorn India Ventures, highlighted the growing momentum in India’s deeptech and underwater robotics ecosystem.

He noted that increased government support, defence-led innovation, and grant-backed contracts have significantly boosted early-stage funding for companies operating in strategic technology domains over the past two years.

Unicorn India Ventures has backed EyeROV across multiple funding rounds, reflecting long-term conviction in the company’s technology, execution capability, and market potential.

About EyeROV

Founded in 2017, EyeROV operates at the intersection of marine robotics, infrastructure inspection, and defence technology.

The company has completed 150+ projects for more than 80 clients, including:

  • Tata Power
  • NHPC
  • Adani
  • ONGC
  • BPCL
  • Maersk

EyeROV has also worked closely with defence and government organisations such as the Indian Navy, DRDO, Indian Coast Guard, and research institutions including NCPOR and CSIR-SERC.

Advanced ROV and USV Capabilities

EyeROV designs and manufactures advanced Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) for high-risk and complex underwater inspections.

Key capabilities include:

  • Inspection of underwater tunnels up to 10 km long
  • Sonar-based imaging and mapping
  • AI-driven analytics
  • Real-time inspection reporting

This places EyeROV among a very small group of companies globally with such deep underwater inspection capabilities.

The company serves sectors such as:

  • Power and energy
  • Oil and gas
  • Ports and shipping
  • Infrastructure and dams
  • Disaster management
  • Marine research
  • Defence

EyeROV offers both product sales and Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) models, enabling flexible adoption for customers.

Looking Ahead

With fresh capital, strong defence traction, and growing industrial demand, EyeROV is positioning itself as a key player in India’s emerging marine and underwater robotics ecosystem.

As global attention shifts toward strategic deeptech capabilities, the company is now preparing for its next phase of growth — both in India and internationally.
